The Heated Public Room of the Oltalom Charity Society is open everyday throughout the year for the needy.
Number of persons supported: 100 at a time, maximum 300 daily. In crisis season (1st of October to 30th of April) 130 at a time, maximum 390 daily.
The night shelter works 24/7 and in order to provide for those in crisis the simplest terms and conditions were set:
Terms of getting in:
- Application for services from the person on duty,
- Accepting the rules of the house,
- Valid proof of NPHMOS – National Public Health and Medical Officer Service – (not older than 1 week) and x-ray screening (not older than 6 months) is necessary.
The services of the Night Shelter are free of charge.
Opening hours:
Throughout the year between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 2 pm. to 4 p.m.
Throughout the year between 12 and 1 p.m. lunch is distributed for about a 150 persons.
Our guests can make use of the following services:
- Washing, shaving (we provide the necessary equipment)
- Laundering, replacement of clothes (from donation)
- Warming of food
- Safekeeping of official documents during the stay
- Replacement of insufficient and worn out clothes free of charge
- Offering information
- Mental-hygiene assistance
- Free time programs (TV, movies)
- Provision of tea and bakery goods
- Making books and newspapers available
- Table-football, table tennis, chess, cards, film club (from Monday to Thursday), and handicraft every Friday
What we help with:
- job-hunting and contact with the employers,
- searching for further education/training possibilities,
- obtaining official documents,
- administration of social security provisions,
- searching for alternative housing possibilities,
- keeping contact with other social institutions.
Moreover we habitually organize sport programs from among table football and table tennis is most popular.
Data of the accepted people are registered in the list of the Daily Public Room. The social worker and social administrator keep track of the individual’s documentation for use of the services of the Daily Public Room.
Social workers provide information and give advice to help solve the visitor’s problems.
