The Communal Kitchen has been working within the Oltalom Society since December 1st 1993.The kitchen provides one meal a day – consumed on site – to homeless people who are regular visitors of night shelters, living at public domains. Pensioners and unfortunates from the neighbourhood often make use of this service.
One meal served in the communal kitchen must contain a minimum of 800 and a maximum of 1200 calories. We consider it very important to offer these people provision on weekends and holidays, therefore the service is available every day throughout the year.
The communal kitchen is open every day from 12.00 to 13.00, and feeding occurs in several shifts. We deliver the meal on the basis of a contract with the canteen of John Wesley Theological College.
Our guests mainly come from the circle of adult men and women who make use of the social and health services of the Society.
The goal of the communal kitchen is to provide a meal a day for the needy and to reduce the increased physical risks especially in the wintertime such as chilblain, cold, sickness.
